iPad Mini 2

Yesterday we bought these iPads at Switch Ghent. Friendly sellers and a little discount made us happy owners. Offcourse we will leave these iPads in Nepal. In that way the iPads can be used for our project but also for other purposes (educational, amusement,..)! They will be in safe hands in the schools that we will give our workshops.

These iPads are ready to go to Nepal

PS: Thanks to Switch Ghent & everyone who supported us.

The Umbrella Foundation

The Umbrella Foundation saves children from corrupt children's homes where they were seriously neglected and sometimes even abused. The organization offers these children a safe haven since 2005 and fulfills the basic needs such as shelter, food, clothing, care and education. After satisfying the basic necessities, they work on the psychosocial care for the children.
Especially this part we find very interesting because it is close to our project. Also Umbrella Nepal saw potential in our project. We have therefore decided to make a cooperation with Paraplu Nepal and especially with Ellen Minkenberg, transcultural psychiatrist. She will give us the best possible guidance in our project with her expertise.
Here is a little article (in Dutch):http://deparaplunepal.wix.com/stparaplunepal

Ellen Minkenberg

Today we had a meeting with Ellen Minkenberg (NL) at the cozy coffee house Café Labath. Ellen works at IPSY (www.i-psy.nl) & for Paraplu Nepal (http://deparaplunepal.wix.com/stparaplunepal). She is a psychiatrist, specialized in the field of transcultural psychiatry and trauma. Paraplu Nepal (and especially Ellen) will assist our project with every psychological part in it.

We had a meeting with Linda Lacombe. She is an artist who works with mixed media on canvas: www.lindalacombe.be.
inda also participated in the optional course: art and culture at Vives Kortrijk. She has taught about "the power of expression of art", where she talked about the function that art may have in the society, education, assistance,... She gave us some really interesting information about some of the methods we can use in our art therapy.

School in a Box

We had a skypemeeting with Linda O'Sullivan (@osullind). Linda is the project manager of School in a Box:
http://www.iadtschoolinabox.com. A very interesting project about digital technologies to enhance learning in the classrooms, suitable for any learning environment in remote locations (even without access to electricity). She gave us some useful information about Ipads & their user experience, solar chargers, etc.
